It’s easy to forget we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, especially in these days and times, when the distractions of this world are so immense. Of course I’m talking about adults. Children overall have the innate ability to let their imaginations fly. They haven’t yet become disillusioned by the demands of this world. Society steals that innocence piece by piece.
The following Bible verses (NIV) speak of us becoming as children again:
Job 33:25-26 let their flesh be renewed like a child’s; let them be restored as in the days of their youth26 then that person can pray to God and find favor with him, they will see God’s face and shout for joy; he will restore them to full well-being.
Isaiah 66:13 As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.
Mark 10:15-16 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
Luke 18:17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
Children are dependent on their earthly mother and father for all of their needs from the time they are born until they are able to make decisions of their own lawfully. We find those like David and Paul who teach us to be dependent on our Heavenly Father in the same way:
Psalm 62:6-8 (NIV)
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
Phillipians 3: 9
and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
Finding joy is easy if we truly have faith. We can swing on swings with our feet seemingly touching the sky, and feel free like a bird. The songs of mockingbirds competing with each other’s melodies can become heaven sent tranquility for the soul. We can dream and believe we can see those dreams come true. We can choose to fear nothing. For living a life of Love has no real place for fear. We can overcome feelings of hopelessness and helplessness that can result from the lies society tells us. We can be who God intended us to be. We can be ourselves and be happy.
Remember when it used to be that way? Remember how the whole world seemed new with daily discoveries of the smallest things, finding us wide-eyed with wonder at God’s creation? I believe we can every day, not just once in a long while, but every day if we choose.
